Dr. Vijay Ananth is the Chief Ophthalmologist, Chairman and Managing Director of Anand Eye Hospital, a centre founded by him with the primary aim of providing high quality eye care to the people of  Madurai, his hometown. His domain of expertise includes Neuro Ophthalmology and Cataract procedures.

Dr. Ananth’s educational credentials include MBBS, DO, DNB, FICO, FRCS (Glasgow) degrees. He has received training in Paediatric and Neuro-Ophthalmology under the mentorship of renowned academicians Dr. Burton Kushner (attached to University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, USA) and Dr. Nancy Newman (attached to Emory Eye Center, Atlanta, USA) respectively. Moreover, his stupendous success in the Diploma course in Ophthalmology is marked by a gold medal bestowed on him for his academic brilliance. On the professional front, Dr. Ananth’s presentation of “Orbital Apex syndrome” earned him the ‘SD Athwale award’.

Dr. Ananth enjoys a long professional association with Sankara Nethralaya, a not-for-profit charitable eye hospital located in Chennai. Till date, he has successfully treated over 5000 cataract cases and actively participated in numerous cataract camps held across the globe.
